Age of Curling 2 (WIP)

Custom physics engine, shiny graphics. Someday…
The physics in Age of Curling were mostly hacks on top of PhysX in Unity. So when they updated the version of PhysX in Unity, the entire house of cards collapsed, leaving me unable to update the project to a newer version of Unity without having to go through a tedious process of tweaking everything to try and get the same outcome. Not great. So for Age of Curling 2 I decided to do it right and build my own physics engine specifically made for curling!
I decided to simulate the entire surface of the ice and track the effect of brooming at every single point of the simulation. Rocks traveling over the ice sample the condition of the ice underneath and take that into account. In the video below 2 rocks are launched repeatedly with the same speed and you can see the influence of booming and how the surface returns to its default state over time.
I also made some shiny new graphics…
Now I just need a few months of time to finish it…
